Long-form essays on reading public health data.

Disclosure

We review software built by the people who publish this site. Everything below exists so that you can discount us correctly rather than have to guess by how much.

The conflict

review.com.im is published by the team behind labs.llc, and the properties reviewed here are built and operated by that same team. This is not an arm’s-length relationship, a sponsorship, or an affiliate arrangement. It is the same people. No amount of editorial care changes that, and we are not going to pretend it does.

We have made three choices in response, and you can hold us to all three.

How an essay here is made

The reviewer opens the live property in a browser, fetches the page and the files it loads with ordinary public requests, reads the numbers the page prints, and then checks those numbers against the data behind them — a count in a shipped file, a total returned by the property’s own relay, the size of a response. Requests are paced a few seconds apart and are read-only: no forms are submitted, no accounts are created, and nothing is written to any reviewed property.

Illustrations are screenshots the reviewer took of the live property, at a stated viewport, on a stated date, captioned with what they show. There are no stock photographs on this site, no placeholder images, and no charts drawn from numbers we did not measure. Analytics and third-party trackers are blocked at the network layer while screenshots are taken, so nothing in a published capture is a live measurement hit.

The journal itself now runs one script, and it is worth naming rather than leaving to be discovered: a Google Analytics 4 tag, property G-WWF8X0NK08, which is this site’s own and is never any other property’s. It exists to answer a single question — whether an essay was read — and it answers it with a page view, an approximate location, a device class and a referring address, written to cookies it sets in your browser. It is given no name, this site has no field to type one into, and every essay is static HTML that reads perfectly well with the tag refused.

Health, and what these essays are not

These are reviews of software. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and nothing on it diagnoses, treats, triages or assesses anybody’s health. Where a reviewed tool displays medical images, we say that it displays them: it renders, windows and exports images, and it does not interpret them, detect anything in them, or produce a report. Where a reviewed tool lists clinicians or hospitals, we say that it lists them: it is a directory, not a recommendation, and a star rating quoted in an essay is the publishing agency’s rating rather than ours. For anything concerning your own health, talk to a clinician who can examine you.

Money

Nobody pays for coverage here, because there is nobody to pay: the only properties reviewed are the publisher’s own. There is no advertising on this site, no affiliate link, no sponsored placement and no commercial relationship with any third party mentioned in an essay. Links to labs.llc in the body of an essay point at the exact page being discussed. The publisher line in the footer of every page is templated rather than editorial, and is marked nofollow to say so.

Corrections

If a figure here is wrong, it is wrong and we will change it and say that we did. Send the disagreement and, if you have one, your own measurement and the time you took it, to labs@labs.llc. That is the only address this site keeps; any other address claiming to be us is not.

Essays are dated and are not silently edited. A figure measured on a given day is a figure from that day: live properties change, and an essay here is a reading at a timestamp rather than a standing claim about the present.
